Today, Ethiopia marked an important step forward in health emergency preparedness and response, receiving WHO classification of its national Emergency Medical Team (EMT) and becoming the first civilian EMT to receive this classification in the WHO African Region.
The classification recognises Ethiopia’s capacity to provide timely, quality emergency medical care in line with international standards. Strong national leadership, sustained commitment and investment in health security made this possible. Congratulations, Ethiopia! WHO-Africa Region
